Project overview

A safer, more efficient skid for one of L'Oréal's key suppliers.

Novéal develops and secures exclusive, high-performance ingredients to meet the beauty needs of consumers worldwide. Founded in 1938 by Eugène Schueller — the founder of L'Oréal — Novéal has become a key player in the production of cosmetic ingredients for premium beauty products.

To meet the specific requirements of Novéal's site in France, Technofrigo by Clauger designed and manufactured an energy-recovery skid for demineralised water, fully adapted to ATEX zone conditions. The solution addresses Novéal's key priorities of safety and energy efficiency.

Strengthened expertise in chemicals

With this project, Technofrigo by Clauger confirms its expertise in chemicals and energy efficiency. We're proud to have supported Novéal in optimising its industrial process and remain committed to developing ever more innovative and high-performance solutions for our customers.

The challenge

An ATEX skid designed for industrial constraints.

Novéal operates in an ATEX zone — a classification for areas where flammable atmospheres can occur — and required a skid that combined energy recovery with full hazardous-area compliance, all while delivering controlled hot-water supply to cosmetics-production processes.

Core priorities

  • Full ATEX-Directive compliance for the operating zone
  • Maximise energy efficiency through condensate-heat recovery
  • Reliable supply of hot demineralised water to production processes
  • Durable construction for chemical-industry service
Our solution

Triple heating source, 316L throughout.

The skid combines a 6,300 L stainless-steel storage tank capable of heating demineralised water up to 80 °C with three heating sources arranged to maximise energy performance.

Triple heating source

  • Energy-recovery preheating — tank heating via tubular heat exchangers using the site's hot condensates at 140 °C
  • Electric preheating — electric immersion heaters supplement heating when recovered energy is not sufficient
  • Steam heating (VATHERUS heat exchanger) — instant heating from 8 °C to 80 °C of the demineralised-water flow when energy recovery and electricity are insufficient

Materials & compliance

  • Premium materials — fully built in 316L stainless steel for durability and corrosion resistance
  • Enclosure — epoxy powder-coated for harsh industrial environments
  • ATEX compliance — designed to meet the strict requirements of the ATEX Directive
